US WWI M-1904 Saddle and Accessories This is an a original US McClellan saddle seat restored around 1980 to replicate the M-1904 pattern Cavalry saddle. The work was done by Hank Kluin of Burgess and Company Red Bank N.J. Hank passed away at an early age about two years ago; he was considered the premier Cavalry equipment historian and leather smith. His items are truly tomorrow's museum pieces today. He made all the accessories for this saddle. He made the 1904 saddle bags and stir-ups girth all straps and earlier officer's valise with brass eagles. Condition: Excellent.

CHARLES SHIPLEY LADIES SADDLE WITH SPECIAL CAMBY TREEThe fine example with special camby tree sporting a stitched horsehide pocket with flap on each side also has a padded seat, puffs, trims and other embellishments in fine brown horsehide with stitching. The beautifully designed saddle with full leathers is stamped with the Shipley maker's mark each side, numbered 240 and further marked HEN 10-1-51.Measures approximately 16 inches from the base of the horn to the inside edge of the cantle.Very good to fine original condition, there are no issues of damage, wear, or repair. No evidence of use can be found.Provenance: John Royle Trust and Living Estate, Independence, Missouri.

Selections from the Collection of Dr. John A. Downey of Manhattan and Sharon Connecticut. Born and raised on a farm in the prairies of Saskatchewan in 1930, Dr. Downey earned both his his B.S. and M.D. at the University of Manitoba. He later interned at the University of British Columbia and at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York in the area of Rehabilitation Medicine. He spent two years in Internal Medicine at the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital at Harvard University and completed his Doctorate in Philosophy at Christ Church Oxford. Ultimately Dr. Downey became the Simon Baruch Professor and Chairman of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. In addition to his time in England, Dr Downey also traveled extensively throughout India and was a visiting professor of Physiology at Australia's University of Adelaide. The Downey collection features period Jacobean oak furniture and fine 19th century English watercolors of British India among other selections.
