Mid-Eastern Jambiya Knives Lot of Three These three daggers are of the wearing type to fulfill religious beliefs. Jambiya is the Arabic term for dagger but it is generally used to describe a specific type of dagger with a short curved blade that is worn on a belt. Although the term jambiya is also used in other Arab countries and is particularly associated with people of Yemen. Men typically above the age of 14 wear it as an accessory to their clothing. Abssi (1934-2020) and Florence Hall Abssi (1919-2014), founders of the Ishtar Gate Gallery in the prestigious Houston Galleria. They were world travelers and dealers of eclectic art, jewelry, antiquities, and gems. Their friends, acquaintances, and customers included people from all continents, including sheiks, prime ministers, royals, business leaders, politicians, and oil magnates.
