Complete and partial letters, primarily to William Omwake, Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania from James Wyeth writing from Cushing Road, Thomaston, Maine. Many on Andrew Wyeth's letterhead. Most embellished with pen & ink & pencil drawings in Jamie Wyeth's hand - often comic & narrative. Includes 2 addressed envelopes (1 embellished with ghoulish pencil drawings). Many of the embellishments throughout this file inspired by horror & other popular genres. The entire file is affected by fire & water, mostly confined to singed edges & minor dampstaining, just a few items in file showing more extensive damage. The son's version from another view, housed in a light wood frame. This piece done in the artist's youth, c. age 19, already demonstrating great skill and vision.
