Found in a New Hampshire home. 22 1/4''h. 11 3/4''w. Ex Bob Jessen and Jim Hohnwald (New Hampshire). There is some paint loss. The mirror is newer. The backboard is split in two and taped back together and glued down.

Sharples (1751-1811) was an English artist who lived between America and England in the late 18th to early 19th century, residing in both Philadelphia and New York. During this period, he achieved his goal of painting George Washington after his return to private life. The long-standing admiration of George and Martha Washington as public figures led to the continued popularity of these silhouettes. Condition Minor wear and in good condition.
