TAINO ZEMI, SIMILAR TO THOSE PORTRAYING THE GODYucahu, but with a different demeanor. Pre-Columbian. This example is less severe, with a subtle grin. Arms extend forward from the headband, and legs point toward the back. Rare to see a zemi with arms and legs, it is also relatively thin. Base is concave, pecked and polished. Fine grained stone. There is a flaw in the stone at the back of the cone that is a natural feature of the rock. 6 1/2" long. Dominican Republic. Provenance: Carrada Collection, Miami and NYC.
