JOHN BELCHER (1841-1913):
JOHN BELCHER (1841-1913): FINSBURY SQUARE ESTATE Watercolor and ink on paper. Note: Belcher born in London in 1841 was the son of an architect and became a partner in his father's firm in 1865. Among his other commissions were the Royal Insurance building in the French Renaissance style the Mappin & Webb building in the Gothic style and the Hall of the Institute of Chartered Accountants one of the first Neo-Baroque designs in London. His work on Finsbury Square dates from 1904-05. In 1907 Belcher won the Royal Gold Medal of the Royal Institute of British Architects and served as president of RIBA from 1904 to 1906. He died in 1913..

GEORGE BELLOWS JOURNEY OF YOUTH LITHOGRAPH New York, Ohio,1882-1925Depicts a young boy with a walking stick holding his hat while glancing up towards a bird lit by sunlight filtering through a tree's leaves. Bellows studied at the New York School of Art under Robert Henri, Kenneth Hayes Miller, and Hardesty Gilmore Maratta. He went on to become an instructor in New York at the Art Students League and at the Art Institute of Chicago.

2 Portraits of Henry Hull as Jeeter Lester.Oil on artist board by John Decker - signed lower left 14'' high x 12'' wide good original condition but dirty. Jeeter Lester was a character in the the famous Broadway show Tobacco Road which ran from 1933-1941. These works came to us by family descent. They are iconic pieces of American history. John Decker America 1895-1947. Decker was a Hollywood portrait painter known to have painted Charlie Chaplin Errol Flynn John Wayne and many others. From a Riverside NY estate.
