TEXTILE: PIECED CALICO QUILT IN THE PATTERN "ROBBING PETER TO PAY PAUL," C. 1860-1880, COTTON, WITH A RUSTY RED (MADDER) PRINT AND TWO DIFFERENT WHITE GROUND PRINTS, THE BORDER DESIGN AROUND THE OUTSIDE OF THE QUILT I...TEXTILE: Pieced calico quilt in the pattern "Robbing Peter to Pay Paul," c. 1860-1880, cotton, with a rusty red (madder) print and two different white ground prints, the border design around the outside of the quilt is a diamond pattern, the backing fabric is a madder striped print, the quilt is bound with a madder print on the straight grain, quilting is done in white thread in an echoed diamond pattern, old tag reads "19th century Connecticut quilt", wear consistent with age and use including scattered brown spots, some water damage on back has caused some browning on the front, which isn't too noticeable because of the color of the quilt, sold as is, 85" h. x 75" w.
