Anthony Wayne (1749-1796, commander of Continental troops at Stony Point, for which he was awarded a gold medal), 2 pp. 4to, 10 1/4 x 7 7/8 in., with integral cover sheet, docketed in Wayne's handwriting. Introduces a Dr. Ridgely, who carries the letter; punning comments on the services of a barber named Benjamine; finishing, "I congratulate all of you on your happy escape from Death and the Devil in the Buff Yerkin."

August 18 1792 Pittsburgh addressed to Colonel O'Hara Quartermaster General asking him to furnish a good stout horse to carry the baggage of Lieutenant Nath. Huston and Captain Jeffers. Signed Anty Wayne in black ink. Verso with Huston's original request written two days prior as well as undated acknowledgement of his receipt of the horse. Condition: Staining. Mutilation of right edge and tape residue at both edges.

OFFICER, DOCUMENT, 1781 Anthony Wayne (1745-1796, Revolutionary War General) Handwritten copy of a letter received from William Henry (b.1729, armorer to the Continental Army) dated at Lancaster, May 16, 1781, concerning an order from "Major Fontleroy" to equip a troop of 60 Light Dragoons, which he hesitates to fulfil because of other orders which remain unpaid. 1 p., 4to. Two brief notes signed in 3rd person by Wayne. Capt. Griffin Fauntleroy, of the 1st VA Light Dragoons, was killed at Guilford Courthouse, March 15, 1781.
