Church's Company belonging to the 4th Battalion of Pennsa. Troops," for which he advanced cash during the month of March; he notes that he has yet to pay for about 30 more rifles "for want of cash." Mentions that Lt. Reid with 22 men, fully armed with rifles are away, "under direction of Silas Dean Esq.;" 1 p., flio, about 13 x 8 1/4 in.

WINCHESTER DELUXE MODEL 1873 LEVER-ACTION RIFLE. Second Model .44-40 caliber 28'' blued octagonal barrel set trigger checkered curly walnut stock. S/n 75737. Accompanying this rifle is a letter from the Winchester Arms Museum (dated 1985) indicating that this rifle was shipped from the warehouse on November 23 1881. Additionally there is a letter from Roan Auctions attesting to the fact that this rifle (which sold in their March 1985 auction) was from the estate of John Woods Rich of Woolrich Pennsylvania and that he was the original owner. Set trigger does work.

Winchester Model 1873 Rifle .22 rimfire cal. short 24.5'' octagonal barrel S/N 302716B. Marked on the top flat of barrel 22 Short also on the cartridge carrier. Walnut buttstock and forearm. Condition: All metal is sharp and crisp. Barrel and magazine has a coat of shellac painted on the metal to preserve the metal underneath which it is a nice plum with traces of blue finish. Frame is sharp and crisp with a nice brown patina. Buttstock and forearm have a dark patina. Bore is good; will clean to better.
