CHINESE BURMESE JADEITE JADE ELEPHANT, 20TH C.Large walking elephant with its trunk lifted. Carved from pale-green Burmese jadeite and includes rosewood stand. In Chinese culture, elephants are associated with the mythical Emperor Shun; as told in the legends, they plowed the land while Shun worked in the field. 6.5 x 7 x 2.5 inches. Appraised for insurance purposes by Tivol in 1980 for $3,500. Jadeite jade identification determined through lab testing by GIA and AGS certified gemologist Tracey Kahle, report is not available.
