Half-model of steam yacht, wood construction, hull painted white with green waterline, glass portholes, white decking with ink-drawn planking, deck houses with ink drawn and paper details, carved ship's figurehead of woman in a gown, mounted to a pine shelf, early 20th century, ship 7 x 78 x 4-1/2 in., shelf 9-1/2 x 83-1/8 x 7-1/2 in., possibly a model of a Vanderbilt owned ship named "The Warrior" or "The Wayfarer". Some missing elements including decking on one deckhouse, replaced bow sprit, white deckhouse, trim chipped, crackled paint, dents, scratches, grime. Purchased by consignor from great- or great-great-grandson of Commodore Pierpont Morgan who was said to have purchased the model from an estate sale of a Vanderbilt Home in New England.

19TH CENTURY BUILDER'S HALF HULL MODEL FOR THEbark "Star of Peace". Built in 1861 at the William Coffin Yard in Newburyport, MA. For J. Baker & Co. J Barker & Co sold the bark in Swatow in 1864. Master of the vessel was Capt. Zemira Kendrick. She weighed 455 tons and was 130 ft long. 12" high, 60" overall length. 55" half hull length.
