KENGTUNG BURMESE GOLD LEAF & LACQUER CEREMONIAL BOWL Rare Ko Kau Tu Lacquer Bowl with gilded decoration, by master craftsman Maung Htun of Kengtung, Burma/Myanmar, circa 1939; bowl is comprised of lacquer over a woven bamboo base, with gilded (in high carat gold) decoration to the top rim, body with eight high-relief figures in indigenous costumes amid geometric motifs, and each foot with a spread wing crow; each corner cartouche contains an incised peacock; base with gilded oval cartouche with maker's name and date in Burmese script, 5 1/2" high, 8 1/2" diam. Base lacquer cracks.
