Condition: breaks in the ray skin covering the hilt, loose/ slightly wobbly hilt collar ,pommel guard, and hand guard , missing kurikata /scabbard hanging attachment, missing hilt ornaments( menuki) and hilt wrapping, one slight ding in the blade

A n 19th - 20th Century Japanese sword, likely an earlier military issue gunto, the blade in good condition with signature & several small pocks in the edge (from use), with simple bronze blade collar & spacers, the hand guard a series of narrow symmetrical supports to a circular ring, the hilt collar with a continuous squared leiwen line etching, the hilt [exposed & cracked] with strips of intact rayskin, the pommel guard, menuki, & silk wrappings missing, the scabbard of red & black lacquer [split with lacquer flaking off] with black metal scabbard tip & hanging attachment.

Japanese Edo Period Katana Sword with Scabbard This kantana signed blade measures 27.25''. Leather wrapped over shark skin. Sword is fitted with family mounts. A very nice iron tsuba with gold designs; silver habaki with the falling rain pattern. The temper line on this sword appears to be the cloud pattern. Condition: Very good. Scabbard has split and is held together by tape at top and bottom.
