EARLY 18TH CENTURY DOCUMENT, APPEARING TO BE AWILL OR BEQUEATHMENT, OF A MR. DAVID LAKE OF TIVERTON, RI. DATED MAY OF 1714, IT IS ADDITIONALLY SIGNED BY SAMUELL CLARKE AND BENJAMIN CHURCH (FAMOUS MILITARY LEADER AND PREDECESSOR TO THE ARMY RANGERS WHO FOUGHT IN KING PHILLIPS WAR AND KING WILLIAM’S WAR). THE DOCUMENT SHOWS THE REMNANTS OF A RED WAX SEAL, AS WELL AS WEAR TO THE EDGES AND DEEP CREASE LINES. DESPITE THIS, IT IS IN OVERALL GOOD, LEGIBLE CONDITION. APPROXIMATELY 13” X 12”.

English Tole-Cased Four-Piece Dress Uniform Set, originally belonging to Royal Navy Vice-Admiral George Napier Tomlin (1875-1947), commander of the Allied Squadron in support of the White Army during the Russian Revolution and sailing on the HMS Liverpool (active 1909-1921), the set comprised of a gilt-brass and shagreen-mounted steel dress sword and scabbard, l. 24-1/2", a pair of Gieves Limited, London, gold and silver epaulettes, w. 5-1/2", d. 7-1/2", and an Admiral's dress hat trimmed in gold, w. 7-3/4", along with a fitted grained tole storage case lined in the period scarlet velvet, accompanied by a bound series of photocopies of notices and clippings recording the life and career of Vice-Admiral Tomlin.
