The scabbard and guard have the initials "FCB", which stand for the Pythian fraternal organization motto ("Friendship, Charity, Benevolence"). The guard also has a crest with the initials UR, which was given to members of the Uniformed Rank. Sword is marked "M.C. Lilley Co. Columbus Ohio" to one side and a knights helmet on the other side.
