Konstantin Pavlovich Kuznetsov
Konstantin Pavlovich Kuznetsov (Russian 1863-1936) "Notre Dame de Paris" oil on canvas signed lower left 21 3/8 in. x 25 3/8 in. in a giltwood frame. Note: Kuznetsov was acclaimed throughout the early years of the 20th c. as a painter of evocative and compelling images which were often imbued with an atmospheric quality reminiscent of the dark brooding Russian folktales of his childhood. As is evidenced in the present lot he employed a painterly brushstroke and sophisticated palette to create works filled with emotion.
