GEORGE ELMER BROWNE RIVER LANDSCAPE PAINTING Massachusetts, Connecticut,1871-1946Impressionist depiction of a building framed by trees beside a reflective river. Browne studied at the Museum of Fine Arts and the Cowles School of Art in Boston and later in Paris at the Academie Julian under Jules Lefevbre and Tony Robert-Fleury. Upon his return to the United States, Browne founded the Browne Art Classes and spent many summers in Provincetown, Massachusetts.
