An Unusual Victorian Leather Clad
An Unusual Victorian Leather Clad "Lady's Companion" The tooled leather clad sewing kit is formed in the shape of a lyre on a scrolling base/ The leather is pebble grained with borders and diamond shape impressions overall apprx. 7-3/4"H x 7"W x 2"D. There is a leather handle attached to the top and a flap closure with a metal lock. The exterior is further adorned with silver metal studs in various shapes and sizes. When opened the front and the back fold down to reveal an ivory moire covered interior with gilt trim. The interior fittings include an oval mirror and a red velvet pin cushion surrounded by gilt braided wire and several holders for various sewing necessities; a thimble several steel hooks a file and other steel objects two with turned bone handles.
