18th century British School portrait, gentleman in powdered wig and wearing a green jacket, painted within a feigned spandrel, unsigned, oil on canvas, colourman label verso stretcher "Thomas W. Hampton…Union Street.Aberdeen", 29-3/4 x 24-7/8 in.; 18th century carved and gilt wood frame. Restretched, 19th century lining, three holes with paint loss in original canvas, retouch possible from period of lining affecting only small areas of background, crackle, abrasions, stretcher marks; frame resurfaced, abrasions, flaking, minor pest damage at sight edge.

ONE ENGLISH & TWO SCOTTISH DOCUMENTS Comprising: 1) Release granted by William Hammond to Robert Leyborne of land formerly the property of his uncle, John Hammond at Stockbridge, May 20, 1522, written in Latin on vellum, 4 3/4 x 11 in., no seal or signatures; 2) Account of a legal case dated August 7, 1657, involving Beatrix Campbell, daughter of Margaret Menzies and John Campbell of Edinburgh, who had married William Naper, a merchant, but a dispute arose concerning terms of the dowry; written in English in a secretarial hand on a single large sheet of paper, about 60 x 12 in., with certifications of notaries and attorneys on back; 3) Affidavit of Gilbert Pigot Moxley, January 3, 1685, concerning an unidentified military matter, naming Sir George Lockhart (of Carnwath), Gedione Guthrie, William and James Clark, in English, on paper, 3 1/2 x 11 1/2 in.
