CAMERON BURNSIDE TONALIST HARBOR WC
CAMERON BURNSIDE TONALIST HARBOR WC PAINTING District Of Columbia, Pennsylvania1887-1952Depicts sailboats floating in calm clear waters beside a harbor town. Burnside studied art at the London County Council school before exhibiting at the London Academy. Burnside later moved to Paris to join the American artists' colony. During WWI, Burnside was assigned to work in a store room in France before his health began to decline. This led Burnside to suggest capturing the aid that the American Red Cross was giving to France, which was accepted. Burnside went on to paint eight large canvases which now reside at the Red Cross National Headquarters in Washington D.C.
