Condition
Each with wear, abrasions and losses to the decoration. The jar and cover with extensive staining to the interior, the smaller jars and cover with several hairline cracks to bases and a few rim chips. The additional cover with a chip to the finial and to the rim. The set of three with rim chips, the two larger with hairline cracks to bases, the smaller with chips to the foot. The compotes with chips to rims and feet, small areas of inpainting. The small compotes with rim chips, a few small cracks, one wiht a broken and reglued rim. One bowl lacking a cover, one bowl with a hairline crack and foot chip, one cover with a hairline crack, the larger cover broken and reglued with associated losses. 4 COMPOTES & 12 CAULDON CHINA DINNER PLATES, BURGUNDY R...Grouping of English serving porcelain with burgundy ground, including four (4) compotes, all with hand-painted floral and burgundy ribbon decoration, scalloped rims, and raised scalloped bases, including two (2) ovoid forms with double scrolling handles and two (2) circular form with single scrolling handles; and twelve (12) Cauldon China dinner plates with scalloped rims having a gadrooned edge around a burgundy border decorated with gilt highlights, each center depicting a hand-painted floral bouquet, with maker's mark and "J.E. Caldwell Co, Philadelphia" retailer mark to underside. Compotes: 2 1/4" H x 12" W x 9 1/4" D and 2 1/4" H x 9 3/4" W x 9" D. Plates ranging from 9 3/4" W x 9" D to 12" W x 9" D. Compotes all with scattered wear to gilt highlights and painted decoration, one small compote with chip to rim, one large compote with small hairline to rim. All plates in very good condition with minute surface wear.
