Biography: Born and raised in Chicago, Nellie Augusta Knopf became known for her mountain landscapes and seascapes. She graduated from the Art Institute of Chicago and also studied with Charles H. Woodbury in Ogunquit, Maine. For 43 years she taught and was Director of Art at Illinois Women's College, later MacMurray College. Provenance: private Chattanooga, Tennessee collection.
