The set includes the title page, the justification page where it is signed and numbered in black ink and a contents page listing the four titles: La Rentré au port Les Matelots ivres L'Arrivé du poisson Le Calvaire breton The second of these, Les Matelots ivres is one of Laboureur's best known images. 350 X 347 (13 3/4 x 13 5/8 in.) and smaller.

Note: The first painting, titled Labourage Nivernais, was commissioned by the French government after Bonheur?s painting, B?ufs et taureaux (race du Cantal), was shown in the Salon of 1848, where it won 1st prize. Labourage Nivernais was completed the next year. It was such a famous painting that variants were done, one held by The Ringling, Sarasota, Florida.

It was later shown at the 1885 Paris Salon and the Paris Exposition Universelle (1889). This cast was issued in 1906 which was both the 25th anniversary of the sculpture's commission, and also the year of the artist's death.
