Folio, old leather over wooden bds.; worn & defective, covers separated. Numerous woodcut illustrations. Title page repaired, repairs & dampstaining through leaf D1, some loss of ptg. & extensive repairs to the 2 leaves following title page, dampstaining & marginal repairs at end, (leaves PP - SSIIII, second volume, folios 365-382), a few scattered cello tape repairs, old unobtrusive mounted slips on yIIII, volume 2, leaf 130, 19th-Century newspaper clipping - devotional poem by member of the Haesler family - on XII, vol. 2, leaf 260. With 17th & early 18th-Century ms. family records on front blank. Long reputed to be the oldest "family" Bible in Pennsylvania. The first complete edition of Luther's version of the whole Bible was printed by Hans Lufft in Wittenberg in 1534. From a Chester County collection. See Darlow & Moule 4205 ,500-
