Abraham Lincoln Woodcut Memento Mori Woodcut broadside ca 1865 featuring a portrait of Abraham Lincoln at center within a black mourning border containing 13 stars with the bold heading Memento Mori plus Lincoln's birth and assassination dates below bust portrait along with the quote Just of his Word - Observant of His Right. 10 x 13.5 in. (sight) framed and glazed 14.5 x 18.75 in. Although the portrait is a somewhat inaccurate rendering of Lincoln it is probably based on a photograph taken by Anthony Berger taken at Mathew Brady's gallery in Washington D.C. on February 9 1864. Condition: Not examined outside of frame; some small tears along edges of broadside; some loss to broadside along lower left edge; small hole in upper left corner of black border.

[Political Americana - Lincolniana] Abraham Lincoln Commemorative Medal North Western Sanitary Fair Bronzed copper 2.25'' diameter x 0.25'' thick by artist Anthony C. Paquet. Obverse with arched text Memoria In Eterna / Abraham Lincoln around a bust of Lincoln facing left; reverse with North Western Sanitary Fair / Chicago Ill. 1865 around the figure of Columbia clutching the American flag with a military camp and ironclad warship in the background. Issue of 1 000 all or almost all of which were struck with a cracked die which resulted in a diagonal line running from beneath Lincolns ear through his eye and giving rise to the myth that they were struck on the day of his assassination (they were actually minted in June). The Ed Steers Lincolniana & Civil War Collection Condition: Holes drilled through either side three gouges at lower right of reverse and several smaller dings and stains.

Three tiny holes, lightly stained. OS: 22' x 25"; SS: 19" x 22".

Edwin Markham Signed Poem Lincoln Man of the People Read at Dedication of Lincoln Memorial A typewritten edition of Markham's poem Lincoln Man of the People copyrighted 1900 1919 and 1924 ink dated by Markham New Brighton N.Y. Dec. 1924 signed at the bottom of the page and with inked initialed note This is the revised version and I am sending you a copy in response to a suggestion in a letter from our common~uncommon~friend Judge George Maxey. Let us also be friends! -E.M.Edwin Markham (1852-1940) was an American poet who garnered acclaim after his publication of his poem "The Man with the Hoe" in 1899. The success prompted an invitation to write a commemorative poem for Lincoln's birthday in 1900 this revised edition of which was chosen by a committee headed by Chief Justice and ex-President William Howard Taft to be read at the dedication of the Lincoln Memorial in 1922.
