JUDAICA. ANTIQUE GERMAN .800 SILVER HANUKKAH LAMP. A spectacular antique German .800 footed Hanukkah oil lamp. This paw footed Hanukkah oil lamp features an exceptional crowned repousse back plate with removable applied Lions of Judah, (8) removable hinged figural crowned lion oil lamps, flanked by removable lions on plinths with a decorative chain spanning the width of the menorah, and a removable figural lions head pitcher. Stamped, "800 5" with a German Reichsmark. Total approx. weight is 47.24 troy oz (gross). From a Westchester, NY estate. Dimensions: lamp measures approx. 13" w x 5" d x 11.50" h. Condition: Good, with light surface scratches and minor dings/dents. One figural lion oil lamp is damaged and can no longer be adhered to the plinth and can not hold oil. Chain spanning the width of plinth is potentially a replacement. Potentially missing shamash and a central pole to help support the chain.

This Hanukkah oil lamp features a lovely pomegranate crowned back plate with removable applied Lions of Judah, (8) removable hinged figural crowned lion oil lamps, and a decorative chain spanning the width of the menorah. Stamped, "J". Total approx. weight is 44.42 troy oz (gross). From a Westchester, NY estate. Dimensions: lamp measures approx. 16" w x 4.25" d x 9" h. Condition: Good, with light surface scratches and minor dings/dents. One figural lion oil lamp is missing its hinge pin thus the lid is not attached this can be seen in the provided photo. Potentially missing shamash and oil pitcher.

JOHN WILLIAM GODWARD R.B.A. (1861 – 1922): WOMAN WITH STONE LION Oil on panel 8 1/4 x 6 1/4 in. unsigned framed. Provenance: Thos. McClean London; Private Collector New York; Thence by descent to the present owner. NOTE: The authenticity of this work has been confirmed and additional information provided by Dr. Vern Grosvenor Swanson. It is yet to be discovered which of Godward's realized works was informed by this oil sketch. It likely dates after the artist's trip to Rome in 1912. Another finished work by Godward of 1915 also portrays the statue of the goddess Sekhmet from the fountain in the Piazza Popolo Rome.

Estimate $ 10 000-15 000 Relined cracquelure cracks in frame. Inpainting includes heavy repainting of right hand background in ur corner and ear. Paintings have not been examined by blacklight.
