TONY NELL YOUNG GIRL WC PORTRAIT PAINTING New York, District of Columbia 1881-1960Depicts a young girl with curly blonde hair and bright blue eyes dressed in white with a slate blue satin sash around her waist. Nell studied at the Denver School of Art and in New York with George Bellows, Frank DuMond, and William Merritt Chase. She was also a member of the American Watercolor Society and the National Association of Women Artists, with works in the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

The Story of Nell Gwyn: and the Sayings of Charles The Second. Related and Collected by Peter Cunningham F.S.A. London: Privately printed 1862. 4to. Two volumes in fine red leather bindings by Sangorski & Sutcliffe London. Extra illustrated with hand written letter signed by Charles II to his cousin tipped in to fly page dated 1677. At the back of vol one is "The Court Burlesqu'd" by Samuel Butler. Gilt ruled edges Monogramed covers and decorated spines. Blue silk fly pages. Fine miniature portrait of Charles II signed by Florence Emily Bennett (English 1895-1937). Bennett exhibited at the RA 1903 - 1914 the Paris Salon 1905 and the Society of Miniatures 1903-1905. This portrait measures 5-1/8" x 3-3/4" sight size in gilt fillet and within gilt and embossed regal cartouche. The smaller oval portrait of Nell Gwyn is unsigned and measures 2-1/2" x 2" also in gilt fillet and within gilt embossed decorative leather.
