RUSSIAN BOOK, MOSCOW CITY ART GALLERY, TRETYAKOVRussian grand livre, this collection appears to be missing a title page, but similar works indicate that this work was titled “Moscow City Art Gallery of P. & S. Tretyakov". It was written by I.S. Ostroukhov and Sergey Glagolya. The collection was likely published in Moscow in 1909, although some parts of the collection were published as early as 1901 or 1903. The purpose of this collection was to give a complete picture of the history of Russian painting. The publication begins with chapters documenting the development of Russian painting. These chapters cover a variety of topics, such as "Russian Ancient Icon Painting", "Kramskoy’s Elder Comrades", "Epigones of Peredvizhinichnosti", and "First Landscape Painters". There are separate chapters dedicated to the most renowned Russian painters: V.A. Repin, V.D. Polenov, I.I. Shishkin, V.A. Serov, K.P. Bryulov, and a number of other artists. The book is accompanied by an album of illustrations of the Gallery’s paintings, which total 76 sheets.

RUSSIAN BOOK, STATE MUSEUM OF MODERN WESTERN ARTRussian grand livre, full title on cover, "State Museum of Modern Western Art, Edition by S.A. Abramova, Text by B.N. Ternovets (Boris Nikolaevich Ternovets)". The edition begins with one introductory chapter on the history and creation of the State Museum of Modern Western Art. The rest of the book consists of sheets of colour reproductions of paintings by leading Western artists of the late 19th-early 20th centuries such as: Claude Monet, Auguste Renoir, Paul Cézanne, Vincent Van Gogh, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, etc. Along with each reproduction there is corresponding text containing information on the artist’s biography, their painting manner and peculiarities of creative expression. The State Museum of Modern Western Art was a Museum in Moscow that was created in 1923. The museum was made up of paintings from the collections of Sergei Schukin and Ivan Morozov. It was shut down in 1948 by Stalin and its works were divided between the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg and the Pushkin Museum in Moscow.

RARE & LARGE STORAGE BOX, UKRAINIAN, MANITOBAA large and rare Ukrainian storage box from Sarto, Manitoba, in red and black paint, embellished with tin cutouts that are both decorative and functional, with original brass lock and decorative tacks. Illustrated on the front cover and page 7 of "Ukrainian Pioneer Furniture" published by the Ukrainian Museum of Ontario (book included ) and partially pictured in "Canadian Folk Art to 1950", page 132. The outward facing horse head motif is found on other Ukrainian boxes, including the companion piece to this box that is in the collection of Alberta's Glenbow Museum. Comes with a 1983 letter from Ken Lawless documenting its history. Untouched condition, minor flaking at bottom and drilled hole at top, circa 1860. Ex Lawless collection. Dimensions, 20" x 16". CARVED BOOK BOX ALBOMME SOUVENIRA profusely carved book box with the spine having six medallions including a soldier, a heart and cross, a fish, and the inscription “ALBOMME SOUVENIR”. The front has maple leaves, a tree of life, two doves, and a peacock while the back is carved with small maple leaves and an elaborate tree of life. Quebec, late 19th century. Allio Collection.
