Broken-arch pediment over a case veneered in highly figured mahogany and inlaid with dark wood; the dial decorated with domestic scenes in the dial arch and spandrels. Imperfections. 88 1/2''h. 18''w. 8 1/2''d. Refinished some touchup to the dial replaced feet and minor veneer loss.

A French Style Long Case Clock, ca. late 19th Century Impressive wood clock with many wood ornaments such as a carved shell bonnet flanked by two finials, beadwork around openings, carved open work sound frets on sides, and scroll and acanthus additions. Squared in shape, the dial window has a rounded top and original rolled glass. Hinged door also with original rolled glass and pendulum shaped window. Two weights, pendulum and clock are removable, including the door glass. Brass embossed frame around a white enameled dial with Roman numerals. Two bell chimes, needs technical assistance overall. Approx. 7'9"T x 2'-1/2"W x 12-3/4"D.

[PROVENANCE: Consigner purchased from Old Timers Antique Clocks, Camp Hill, PA, in 2002 for $3,300. Receipt states it was previously purchased from an old farm house in Vermont.]

Phase of the moon dial with original paint and a lake cottage scene. Broken arch pediment with brass rosettes, replaced eagle finial, and Corinthian capitals on fluted columns. Case has rope twist quarter columns, bracket feet and inlaid shell medallions. Refinished, painted dial has flaking. With key, weights and pendulum. 92"h.

Rich mahogany wood with blond wood banding in areas and on hood which has the original glass. Panel door front has attached letter from Airdrie. The case does not rest on feet sits directly flat. With weights pendulum bell strike mechanics. Measures 7'T x 22-1/2"W x 8-3/4"D.

CONDITION: Loss at top left of bonnet, scattered loss of veneer and paint, wear consistent with age and use. Bonnet door has a tight fit. Currently working, but not guaranteed to keep working or accurate time.

A LONG CASE CLOCK WITH 'S. HOADLEY PLYMOUTH' WOOD DIALThe case with alligatored finish is topped by three period brass finials over the arched door with full columns either side above the pendulum box finished in quarter columns each side of the drop panel door above an outset box base topped by cove molding, without feet. It appears the case was originally grain painted. The dial with federal eagle over landscape in oval reserve of beads and scallops in gold relief also has green plume spandrels with cornucopias that frame the Roman numeral chapter ring encircling sub-dials for seconds and calendar days. The starbursts at the winding holes, and other dial embellishments, are applied in high gilt relief. The cast aluminum hands are replacements. The wood works time and strike movement with oak plates is unsigned.Measures 88.5 x 18.5 x 9 inches.Very good intact running condition at the time of removal from the Stewart home. We cannot guarantee the running or timekeeping condition of timepieces once removed from the auction premises.Provenance: The estate of Bob and Emma Stewart, Warrensburg, Missouri.
