College N. Y. when I was attending a course of Med. Lectures in 1828 , Dr. Hosack was the attending physician of Alexander Hamilton after his fatal duel with Aaron Burr, contains approximately 170 pages of handwritten notes of various medical conditions and an at length autobiography written from memory, 10" x 8 1/2".

LYONEL FEININGER ABSTRACT WOODCUT, DORFLyonel Feininger (American, 1871-1956) abstract modernist woodcut print on Japan laid (washi) paper, titled "Dorf", comprised of numerous dynamic geometric shapes and linework in black ink. Signed and dated below plate in pencil "Lyonel Feininger 1892". Float mounted under glass with a fabric matte in a carved giltwood frame with black painted accents. Framer's label, en verso of frame. Plate: 3 7/8" H x 4 1/4" W. Sight: 6 3/4" H x 7 1/8" W. Framed: 16" H x 16 1/8" W. Biography: Lyonel Feininger, an important contributor to the Cubist and Expressionist schools of art, was born in New York in 1871 and moved to Germany at age sixteen. There, he became the Master Artist and first artistic director of the print making shop at the Bauhaus school in Weimar and, later, at Dessau until its closing by the Nazis in 1933. The rise of the Nazi party prompted Feininger to return to the United States with his family in 1936 where he continued his career. He was also a member of the Blue Four group of expressionists, which included Paul Klee and Wassily Kandinsky.
