He was a member of the Graphic Sketch Club as well as a teacher at the Philadelphia Art Museum and the Fleisher Art Memorial. His works are in many private collections in Philadelphia as well as PAFA. In 2022, Gross McCleaf Gallery of Philadelphia hosted the first major retrospective of Blackman?s work titled ?Save for Future Use.?
