32 ¼ x 42 ¾ x 24 3/8 in.
Note: Henry Hill was active from 1740 till 1778, and worked in Marlborough in Wilshire. He wore many hats not only as a cabinet-maker, but a coach maker, an auctioneer, an estate agent and an insurance company representative. His clients were predominately Wiltshire landowners, such as the 9th Duke of Somerset at Maiden Bradley, Henry Hoare at Stourhead and the Earl Bathurst at Cirencester Park. The above offered lot is a known model of his work.
Condition
Age splits and one tear drop patch to the top with minor veneer lifting. Scuffing and wear throughout. Replaced handles and pulls for brush slide which slides smoothly. Minor veneer losses and patches to the front. All four legs have been repaired. Structurally sound, beautiful color and elegant form. This piece is made slightly out of period.

The second drawer fitted with compartments and lacking a dressing mirror. In good restored condition with dark staining to the top. Minor veneer replacements, patches, scattered small age splits throughout. A 24 1/2 in. age split on the right side panel, previously with filler. Handles appear to be original and lacking escutcheons. Brush slide and drawers work well. Age splits to the bottoms of the drawers, the 3rd & 4th drawers with slight warping to the drawer bottoms. Recently polished. Previously fitted with casters. Structurally sound. Impressive scale.
