JAPANESE SUMITSUBO CARPENTER'S SCRIBE 20th century, maker's mark stamped on underside, wooden construction with an iron crank. The user pulls a length of string through an inkwell and, once taught, snaps it to mark a straight line on any surface to be cut.

Pencil-signed, dated, and numbered (AP VIII) to the bottom center cartouche, titled and signed with ink thumbprints below each drypoint impression. Crown Point Press (printer Patrick Foy) publisher's blind stamp to the bottom right. Matted behind glass but unframed.
Condition
The work is in very good condition. The bottom right corner of the glass is chipped.

Minor water damage. Framed, 29.5"h. 28.75"w. and vertically striped abstract by Tadaaki Kuwayama (New York/Japan, b. 1932). Acrylic or enamel paint on paper, laid down on masonite, signed and dated 1968 lower right. Overall wear, surface scuffs and slight discoloration. Bottom of "stretcher" is loose. 34"h. 11.5"w. Together with a ceramic vase "Socially Acceptable" by Francie Rich (American, b. 1942). Signed and titled on rim. Hand painted caricature portraits. Flaking. 8"h. 8"d.

IGAEL TUMARKIN (1933) FIGURAL COMPOSITION. Watercolor with pen and ink signed and dated 1959 9.75''x13.75'' Condition: This piece was examined in frame under glass. Appears to be taped to mat on corners verso. There are two push pin holes on all corners. All corners have what appears to be glue stain from previous taping on the front of the print. There are a light amount of vertically running rippling in the paper. There is an approximately .25'' tear on the top edge of the paper about 6'' from the upper left corner. The edges have a few scattered creases.
