MARINE SEXTANT WITH CASEA 20th
MARINE SEXTANT WITH CASEA 20th century vintage marine sextant showing a black powder coated brass frame with a silvered arc within a brass index arm stamped H. HUGHES & SON LTD. LONDON, and fitted with a pinch type tangent, together with magnifier, brass telescope, and index mirror, 2 pair of sun shades & horizon mirror, as well as an ivorine vernier scale & micrometer. The underside mounted with a black phenolic grip which stores batteries for the electric light fitted atop the index arm. All within a dovetailed & locking mahogany fitted case with carrying handle, some components may be absent. The lids interior retaining its HUSUN inspection certificate dated February 1945. Case dimensions: 6" high x 10.5 " wide x 11" deep.

WIDTH 6.5".NAVY MARK V BUBBLE SEXTANT BY BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION, Circa 1942, Inscribed and signed on the base "Aircraft Sextant, Mark V BU. Aero., U.S. Navy" and "Eclipse - Pioneer Division of Bendix Aviation Corporation". Optical system is based on four reflecting prisms with an external knob that rotates the index prism and drives an index over a rough scale divided from -10 to 100 in units of 5 degrees. With an artificial horizon, adjustable size bubble and a chono-metric averaging device. A three-volt, two dry cell battery lighting system illuminates the counter reading and stop watch. Lacking case. Dimensions: Height 8". Width 6.5". BRITISH BRONZE MARINE SEXTANT IN MAHOGANY CASE, DATED 1871 Bronze frame with all lenses intact, signed on the silver register "J.S. Newill, 7th St S. Liverpool & 50 Cornhill, London". The case has an engraved brass plate that reads "G.L. Josselyn, 1871". George L. Josselyn is registered as a property owner in Duxbury, MA in 1870. A vintage card is tacked to the inside of the lid from Charles C. Hutchinson at 152 State Street, Boston. Shrinkage crack to box, loose blocks. 5" x 10 1/2" x 10". Good optics.
