WINCHESTER MDL. 1911 'WIDOWMAKER'
WINCHESTER MDL. 1911 'WIDOWMAKER' SHOTGUN, 12 GA Winchester's response to the runaway success of the Browning Auto 5, an unorthodox design which earned a suicidal reputation. Colloquially referred to as the "Widowmaker," the shotgun features a knurled section on the barrel which the operator would use to charge the shotgun, the design being necessary as Browning had patented the use of a handle affixed to the bolt for his Auto 5. This particular example certainly shows its age, although mechanically it seems largely fine. The blued finish is largely worn off, with maybe 60% remaining mostly on the barrel. The buttstock has significant repairs, likely having split if the gun had been fired after the fiber buffers had deteriorated. The handguard also shows multiple splits in the wood although it seems relatively solid. S/N: A9852, Caliber: 12 GA (2 3/4" Chamber), BBL: 26" (Full choke), OAL: 45."
