WILKINSON TOBY JUG - FIELD MARSHALL HAIGField Marshall Haig- One out of the Eleven Wilkinson Commemorative Toby Jugs, England, c. 1915-20, after designs by Sir Francis Carruthers Gould, each molded figure polychrome enameled and gilded and depicting political and military leaders during World War I, including Marshall Foch, President Woodrow Wilson, General Botha, Lord French, General Joffre, H.M. King George V, Lord Kitchner, Admiral Beatty, Rt. Hon. D. Lloyd George, Admiral Jelicoe, and Field Marshal Haig. He is wearing an olive green suit and holding a jug with the British flag on it. He is also sitting on a tank, with the saying PUSH and GO at the bottom. Royal Staffordshire backstamp.

Chipping and staining along top margin with two tears affecting image, two upper corners torn in margin, staining and scraping along the bottom of image, and some soiling on the ends.

Clark S. Marshall (American,
Clark S. Marshall (American, 1862-1944) "Haystacks", oil on board, signed lower left "Clark Marshall" and inscribed verso on frame "Clark S. Marshall Clayton, Del., Painted in 1936, From our Farm looking at St. Josephs Industrial School", 13-1/2" x 19-1/2". Presented in a polychromed wooden frame. A native of Maryland, Marshall became a highly regarded Impressionist landscapist. He studied at the Maryland Institute, College of Art and at the Julian Academy in Paris. Exhibitions of his work included one-man shows at the Peabody Institute in 1918, Baltimore Museum of Art in 1932 and Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. Around 1918 he had become a minister, taking charge of congregations in Maryland and in his later years, Delaware. In 1957, a retrospective exhibition of his work was held at the Maryland Historical Society and his art is in the permanent collections of the Baltimore Museum of Art.
