Poem (from William Cowper) reads: "Hark my soul, it is the Lord! 'Tis thy Savior, hear His Word; Jesus speaks and speaks to thee. Say poor sinner, lovest thou Me? Can a woman's tender care Cease toward the child she bear? Yes, she may forgetful be. You will I remember Thee". In silver and green molded frame, under plexiglass. Two samplers by sisters: both with four lines of alphabet and numbers over the same eight-line verse, symmetrical placement of floral and animal motifs throughout, one stitched "Anna Ward/March the 1/1834", the other "Elizabeth Sarah Ward/March the 28/1832" within cartouches, strawberry vine border on one and simple chain border on other, 16-1/4 x 12 in. AMERICAN SAMPLER. Mary Jackson Moody 1801 silk on linen. Double chimney house neatly placed between two trees and a pair of sheep. Mary signed her work with her full name and gave her age as 10 years old. Good color. In a frame 21''h. 19''w. The only girl named Mary Jackson Moody found during genealogical research was the daughter of Samuel Moody. He was born in Pennsylvania in1744 moving to Henrico County Virginia where Mary was born. Dropping the Jackson Mary Moody was a common name in the late 18th-early 19th century. Bright colors. Some insect damage.

Family record of John and Jane Pinkney with scattered motifs including strawberry baskets birds sheep and a tree with an abundance of apples. Good color. 18 1/4''h. 17 3/4''w. The family is listed as living in Wykeham Parish and Mary was the third child and only daughter. She was born June 30 1813 and made the sampler in her eleventh year.
