Early 19th century Masonic portrait, gentleman wearing a Masonic pendant and holding a document, unsigned, oil on canvas, British or American School, early 19th century, old handwritten auction labels verso (one dated September 10, 1929), 28 x 25-3/8 in.; 20th century gilt wood and composition frame. Lined, crackle, cupping, old retouch mostly in dark aareas, some in sky and face, up to 20 percent of surface affected, yellowed varnish; frame with abrasions and losses to gesso.
