RARE CHINESE EXPORT AMERICAN MASONIC SUBJECT PLATE Jiaqing Era, circa 1800-10
Painted in brown, iron-red, blue, green, gold, and black with “The Pillars at the Entrance to King Solomon’s Temple” flanking a sun device all at the center of the well, with anthropomorphized sun and moon and other Masonic devices filling the remaining area of the well of the plate. Typically, this pattern has been found on punch bowls and mugs; it is extremely rare to find this design on a flatware item such as this plate.
