A large scale bronze sculpture of a seated female drinking from a shell, signed on base “Math Moreau” with foundry mark “(illegible) Paris.” On original fitted bronze plinth which allows the sculpture to be turned 360 degrees, 29”H x 12”W x 12”D.Mathurin Moreau was born in 1822 in Dijon, France. Moreau became one of the most sought-after and important sculptors of his time, both during the reign of Napoleon III as well as in the Belle Époque.

The sculpture appears in very good to excellent original condition. Minor darkening between crevices. Some patina on the base is peeling. No significant issues to report otherwise.
