Old darned repairs and a little discoloration.

ENGLISH SAMPLER. Matilda Moxham Crooms Hill Greenwich Kent 1796 silk on linen. Motifs worked in wide bands including a religious verse a large bird flanked by tiny buildings a depiction of Adam and Eve and a cartouche containing the maker's information on the bottom. Good colors. In a frame 21''h. 13 3/4''w. Matilda Moxham never married and appears to have spent her life just south of London. She is listed as living with her brother and widowed sister in Cudham Court in the 1851 and 1861 census. One small needlewoven repair.
