Japanese satsuma, probably Meiji or Showa period cylindrical vase atop a slightly raised foot with tapered neck terminating in wide mouth, the body of the vase decorated with bamboo trees, in the center circular panel of seated figure with children in front of a room divider, the next elaborately decorated with lupus, the rim with unusual red boarder; the base marked Hakuzan beneath Shimazu family crest within cartouche; overall good condition with minor wear and loss consistent with age, some areas of heavier wear and loss to gilt;
