Provenance: Property of a Washington, D.C. Estate Literature: For an example of this form with the corresponding clock, see Bonham’s London, 22 July, 2020, lot 103. Here noted that Kaendler’s work records of July 1766 included an order for the present form. Based on a gilt-bronze prototype, the porcelain order was commissioned for the Chevalier de Saxe, the illegitimate son of Augustus the Strong and Fuerstin Lubomirskahe.
