MEISSEN "FOUR SEASONS" PORCELAIN CLOCK Meissen (German, founded 1720), circa 1880, polychrome and gilt porcelain "Four Seasons" rocaille form clock, model 2172,, decorated with putti and florals, on three C-scrolled feet, originally modeled by Ernst August Leuteritz, the Lenzkirch clock movement with serial number 547154. MEISSEN (MARCOLINI) PORCELAIN FLOWER-ENCRUSTED CLOCK STANDMEISSEN (MARCOLINI) PORCELAIN FLOWER-ENCRUSTED CLOCK STAND, circa 1770, blue crossed swords, star and 11 mark, based on a model by Johann Joachim Kaendler, in the Rococo taste, of shaped rectangular form, the top with a stylized relief-molded rosette, the front centering a bouquet within a shell-molded cartouche, the four scroll feet applied with entwined flowers, w: 10 in. Provenance: Property of a Washington, D.C. Estate Literature: For an example of this form with the corresponding clock, see Bonham’s London, 22 July, 2020, lot 103. Here noted that Kaendler’s work records of July 1766 included an order for the present form. Based on a gilt-bronze prototype, the porcelain order was commissioned for the Chevalier de Saxe, the illegitimate son of Augustus the Strong and Fuerstin Lubomirskahe. For another example of this rare form, see the Hermann Emden Collection, Hamburg, Rudolph Lepke's Kunst-Auctions-Haus, Berlin, 3-7 November, 1908, lot 600.

GERMAN PORCELAIN MANTEL CLOCK with Lenzkirch movement the porcelain body encrusted with carnation flowers and roses having two branch and vine handles; the metal face with Roman numerals hinged beveled glass cover. Dimensions: 13''L x 6''W x 15''H. The clock is in good overall condition with light wear throughout but it is not working at this time. A few flowers have chips the clock face has a few hairline cracks and repairs the back and underside has hairline cracks and a chip below the pendulum.

comprising a mantel clock with stand and a pair of seven-light candelabra, each intricately decorated with cherubs and flowers; each bearing crossed swords in underglaze blue to the underside, the mantel clock further inscribed 22 in iron red and incised 176 and 76 to the underside, the candlesticks further incised 260 and one example additionally impressed 104, the base further incised 2172.
Height of mantel clock 17 1/2 x width 11 5/8 inches; height of clock with base 16 inches.
