Depicting a recumbent maiden with gentleman under a tree surrounded by a sheep and basket of flowers H: 9.5'' W: 10'' D: 6.5'' Condition: 2009Chips to a lamb ear the cane and several leaves (4 broken leaves included). Several pen tip size dark pigment spots to around base bottom edge especially on gilt. Light dirt grime build up on all. light gilt loss. hair line crack around the wrist of the man and the strap of the bag is cracked and separating. scattered with very light surface scratches.

D.66, C.28., C.83, impressed 43, 9., 144 and 125, painter's 19, 12 and 65., both after models by M.V. Acier circa 1778, the lady depicted standing reading a card held in her right hand, her left holding a muff, her ribbon-tied bonnet, fur-lined yellow cape, pink overskirt and striated underskirt all trimmed in lace; he modeled seated in a light green jacket, ruffled lacy shirt, gilt trimmed vest and blue breeches, his tricorn hat and a scabbard tucked at his side, a basket of spilled flowers under his chair, the rocaille-molded bases enriched in gilt, h: 8 in. (the taller); and Winter, after a model by Friedrich Elias Meyer, adapted from the model by J.J. Kaendler circa 1750, depicted standing beside a brazier, wearing a fur-lined cloak, the rocaille-molded base enriched in gilt, h: 8 in. (3) Literature: Michel Victor Acier (1736-1799), modeler; Johann Carl Schoenheit (1730-1805), designer and engraver; and Friedrich Elias Meyer (1723-1785), modeler.
