MERIDEN BRITANNIA CUSTOM MADE COLD WATER KETTLE, SILVER PLATED AND ENAMELED, WITH DEDICATION TO CAPTAIN KIRBY, STEAMER FLORA, HISTORY OF GREAT LAKES, LONDON, DATED 1877 Cylindrical form silver plated cold water kettle with enameled interior, hinged dome lid with fully sculpted putto riding a dolphin, "C" scroll handle with ivy design, spout supported with a seashell, bands around lower body and at the top cast in relief depicting explorers and hunters, bears and sea lions among icebergs, foliate repousse design on sides with reserves. Engraved with "Presented to Capt. Kirbi / Steamer Flora / by a few of his personal friends / London, Ont. 1877" in a reserve on the side.
