Probably mid 19th century lacking signature the 1.5-inch terrestrial globe covered with 12-gore printed paper map surrounded by a series of seven interlocking printed paper-covered wooden armillary rings representing the circles of the heavens including equinoctial line and Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn intersected by polar colures representing solstices and equinoxes full-meridian marked with degrees of elevation at the North and South poles and climates according to month and horizon band showing the Gregorian and Zodiacal calendars over two half-rings printed with latitudes and longitudes of major cities on a turned ebonized wood stand 18.5'' H x 12'' Dia.

AMERICAN PENDULUM ARTIFICIAL HORIZON SEXTANT CIRCA 1880 HEIGHT 7.5". LENGTH OF TUBE 10".AMERICAN PENDULUM ARTIFICIAL HORIZON SEXTANT, Circa 1880, By Hall Colby. Signed on the arc plate "Hall Colby Altimiter - No. 6 Patent Applied For xxxx". A semicircular scale, divided 90-0-90 in units of 30 arc-minutes so as to indicate either altitude or zenith distance. An arc-shaped pendulum, pivoted at the center of the circle, is used to establish a horizontal line of reference. The pendulum arc carries two verniers that read to 1 arc-minute. Sights are mounted along the top of the frame. A trigger mechanism releases the pendulum to swing freely while the object is sighted and then locks the pendulum in position so that the sextant can be read. Dimensions: Height 7.5". An important early 20th century
An important early 20th century sundial by Louis Ragot, Milford, Pennsylvania signed and dated 1904 The cast figure of a winged Father Time figure holds an hour glass in his left hand and the right hand holding a scythe which forms the gnomon for the sundial; the face engraved with Roman Numerals, the lower section engraved "LAT 46.31' / Copyright 1904 by Louis Ragot. " on the left and "Louis Ragot Sc. 1904 Milford Pa." on the lower right. Louis Ragot apparently worked on at least one church in Harlem, NYC, where he is alleged to have done various bronze fittings, light fixtures and the like. He lived on a property in Milford called "The Hermitage" - which has been referred to as a "resort" at times as well. He was said to have had a number of buildings on the property with carvings of "The Hermit" placed throughout the property as well.
