FINELY CARVED CHINESE MING JADE BIRDFinely carved Chinese jade bird seated in the resting position. The recumbent bird is shown holding foliage with lovely pierced work. The carving style, material, and subject strongly suggest a Ming date.
Provenance: Private Minneapolis Collection - collected in China prior to 1985.
(Not including stand) Height: 1 1/4 in x width: 1 3/4 in x depth: 3/4 in. Weight: 28.06 grams.
Condition:
There are a couple of small chips along the leaves along the back of the bird. Light wear throughout. The number 333 is written in pen along the underside of the jade. Some dirt and dust collected in the recessed areas of the work. Light wear to the stand.
