N.Y.V. / March 1st 1863; the left side of the sword's 32 in. blade is etched with an American Eagle and scroll bearing the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM, there is additional foliate decoration on both sides of the blade; the ricasso has a scroll engraved "Made by Ames MFG Co CHICOPEE, MASS; the pierced guard features "US" amid foliage; the grip wrapped in ray skin bound with brass wire.

Sword has original officers sash still wrapped around grip faded to a nice rose color. We have not removed the sash from the grip. 38 3/4'' long overall.CONDITION: Minor areas of isolated peppering on blade sash has tears and rips but complete and intact.
