WHITNEY/US", browned barrel marked "1850" on the tang and "US/GW/VP" and marked "STEEL" on the left side of the breech, inside the patch box is a spare nipple and musket tool, with a brass-tipped ramrod.

Lockplate marked with an eagle between the hammer an percussion bolster. U.S. Trenton on the forward part of the lockplate. Three barrel bands and walnut stock. Condition: All metal parts have been cleaned to bright. All markings and lines are very sharp and crisp. Three-leaf rear barrel sight retains all of the original blue finish. Stock is dark with nice opened-grained look and an excellent cartouche.
