ENGRAVED SMITH AND WESSON NO. 2 OLD MODEL REVOLVER. A.k.a. Model No. 2 Army .32 caliber six-shot cylinder 6'' octagonal barrel rosewood grips. Elaborately engraved frame and cylinder. S/n 37113. Accompanied by its original holster. According to an old tag that accompanies this gun it was sold by a Mary Kincaid in 1968 and was according to family tradition carried by her great grandfather a captain in the 1st North Carolina Cavalry. Moderate pitting and corrosion on the frame barrel and cylinder. Holster in poor condition. The back side of the grips bear inscriptions: one is carved with ''1st NC'' and the other has ''M.C. Kincaid 2/55 R.N. 537'' in ink. The frame under the grip is also stamped ''1*NCC''. Its CW war use is not possible as the accompanying factory letter indicates that it shipped from the facotyr on April 15 1865. No Captain Kincaid (or Kincade) could be found in the 1st NC Cavalry however the note does not indicate whether it was her paternal or maternal great grandfather.
